CapCut does not watermark every free video. If your export came out with a logo, one of three things usually happened: the project uses Pro-badged material, a template included a branded ending clip, or you exported from mobile after declining the Pro prompt for a project beyond the free limits.
CapCut's own export help page spells out the trigger. When a project contains Pro templates, effects, fonts, music, stickers, AI tools, or premium transitions and LUTs, the export panel says the video uses CapCut Pro content, and a clean export requires a subscription. On mobile, declining the prompt still lets you export, but with a CapCut watermark even at 1080p.
Here is the practical order to fix it, starting with the cheapest option.
1. Scan the timeline for Pro badges
Play through the project and look for diamond, crown, or Pro badges on:
- templates and template scenes
- effects and transitions
- fonts and text styles
- music tracks and sound effects
- stickers and overlays
- AI tools or AI-generated clips
Any one Pro asset can trigger the watermark for the whole export. You do not need to find all of them at once, but the export will stay watermarked until the last one is gone.
2. Replace Pro assets with free equivalents
Swap each marked item for a free alternative:
- Replace a Pro template scene with a blank scene you build yourself.
- Replace Pro music with a track marked free, or use audio you own.
- Replace Pro fonts with a system font or a free font from CapCut's library.
- Remove Pro effects rather than trying to hide them.
- Regenerate AI elements with a free tool, or cut the shot.
If the edit depends on a Pro template, it is often faster to rebuild the same structure with free elements than to hunt for each badge.
3. Delete the template's ending clip
Many people mistake a template's outro for a watermark. Some templates end with a CapCut-branded clip or logo overlay. Scroll to the end of the timeline, select that clip or overlay, and delete it before exporting. CapCut's help center documents this fix separately from the Pro-asset watermark.
Check the first and last two seconds frame by frame. A logo that appears only at the end is almost always an outro clip, not baked-in branding.
4. Keep export settings inside the free tier
On desktop, free exports go up to 1080p. 4K and 60fps are locked behind Pro, and those options are greyed out or require an upgrade. On mobile, CapCut's help page says free projects are capped around 15 minutes depending on region.
If the export panel shows a "no watermark" option, it only applies when the project is otherwise eligible. It is not a paid-feature bypass.
5. Decide whether Pro is worth it
If the project genuinely needs Pro material, price the subscription before you commit. CapCut's US pricing page listed Pro at $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year when checked on October 20, 2026, including 1,200 monthly AI credits and 1 TB of storage. Regional pricing differs.
For a one-off video, paying a month is reasonable. If you keep hitting the watermark every week, compare a free editor that exports clean 1080p. Clipchamp, Canva, and OpenCut are covered in our watermark-free alternatives list.
What not to do
Third-party "CapCut watermark remover" tools are not a good trade. They often ask you to install unknown software, and removing a watermark can violate the platform's terms or the rights of the template creator. Cropping or covering the logo also changes your framing and is not a real removal.
The durable fix is to remove the Pro asset or change tools. Our guide to CapCut's free plan limits explains exactly which features trigger the gate.
A quick verification checklist
Before uploading, confirm:
- No Pro badge remains in the timeline.
- The ending clip and any logo overlay are deleted.
- Export resolution is 1080p or lower.
- The exported file is checked at the start, middle, and end.
If the logo still appears after all four steps, the project probably contains a Pro asset you have not found yet. Duplicate the project, delete half the scenes, and export a short test to isolate it.
